Bryan Lobel is an urban planner and economic development strategist with over 17 years of experience working with public sector clients throughout the Pacific Northwest. His expertise includes economic development planning, subarea and regional center planning, employment and buildable lands inventories, and land capacity analyses. He specializes in industrial strategy development, economic vitality and recovery planning, and housing planning in response to new state requirements. Bryan also brings a strong communication skillset — including information design, data visualization, and GIS analysis — to support BERK's technical work.
Bryan started his career in California before returning to Philadelphia to join an urban planning and design studio. He then moved to the Pacific Northwest, joining a local economic analysis firm and eventually leading its economic development strategy practice. He holds a Master of Urban Planning from UCLA and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish Language Studies from the University of Colorado.
Outside BERK
Bryan married a Frenchwoman who keeps him chained to the kitchen baking bread. When not playing Magna-Tiles with his daughter, he loves to surf, climb, ski, play music, and travel. Bryan does volunteer mapping in Patagonia and spends lots of time in Central and South America.
