BERK worked with the City of Liberty Lake to update its sign code for compliance with the recent case laws such as Supreme Court's Reed v. Town of Gilbert. The project also focused on simplicity and usability of the code, and protecting the aesthetics of the city. BERK reviewed the code for content gaps, clarity of the code, and ease of navigation. BERK restructured the Sign Code for better navigation between commercial and non-commercial sign types. BERK worked closely with a stakeholders group consisting of community members and business owners. BERK also designed visual survey to raise awareness among the community on sign types, legal aspects of commercial and non-commercial signs, and standards of signs reflecting their context.
